Yesterday was our anniversary.
Michelle and I got married in 2011, but we’ve been together since 1998.
We’ve seen a lot of seasons together, but one of the hardest was during COVID.
Michelle was considered an essential worker and thus was working 60+ hours a week for a job that really didn’t care a lick about her. Since musicians were deemed nonessential, I stayed home with our 1 year old son while she went out and took on the world, missing those early days with him and carrying the weight of everything.
I wrote “Carry Your Burden” during that time.
And it felt right that the song ended up being a duet with her.
“Your family’s here with you
You got family to lean on
And at the end of the day
You got family to hold.”
“Carry Your Burden” is out now. It means a lot to finally share this one with you.
